Wedding to Brad Pitt

aniston-hair-13jun13-02They were America’s hottest celebrity couple for 5 years and would have celebrated their 15 year anniversary today if things worked out for them! Actors Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston went strong from 2000 to 2005 before announcing their tragic divorce in January.

Brad and Jen reportedly met back in 1998 after both their agents set them up on a blind date. It looks like the blind date worked since the couple happily dated for more than two years before taking their relationship to the next step. After dating for two years, the couple became engaged and quickly put together their dream wedding. They were dubbed “Hollywood’s golden couple” as they attended movie premieres, awards and A-list events together.

On July 29, 2000, Brad and Jen were married in a lavish $1 million Malibu wedding. The extravagant wedding included a flower-bedecked canopy along with 50,000 flowers (rambling roses, wisteria, lotus flowers), a gospel choir, 4 bands, fireworks and 200 guests to celebrate with them. The wedding was held under a white tent on a bluff overlooking the Pacific Ocean at the massive Malibu mansion of television producer Marcy Carsey.
The bride wore a beaded, silk and satin gown by Lawrence Steele; the groom, a Hedi Slimane tuxedo. ”It was more of an Asian Zen style, but also very romantic and elegant,” says Kevin Lee, the owner of La Premier Flowers. There was even a fireworks ”sky concert” by Pyro Spectaculars – a ”Fight Club” allusion perhaps?

Trouble in paradise? While everything seemed happy and normal during the 56th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards in Sept. of 2004, the couple was already dealing with complications. By this time, Pitt was already working on the upcoming 2005 flick “Mr. and Mrs. Smith” with his future wife Angelina Jolie. It was believed that Pitt and Jolie began a relationship during this time as he later admitted that he “fell in love” with her at the time.

While their relationship began to garner divorce rumors for months prior, Aniston didn’t publically announce their separation until January 7, 2005. The following day, the front page of the New York Daily News read “Jen and Brad split, now they’re… Just ‘friends.'” The reasons they gave were due to their difficult schedules and disagreement on whether or not to have children. By Oct. of 2005, Aniston and Pitt were officially divorced as Pitt continued his relationship with “Mr. and Mrs. Smith” co-star Angelina Jolie. Before Aniston even filed for divorce, photos of Pitt and Jolie basking on the beach in Kenya emerged giving more evidence to their secret relationship. By Jan. of 2006, Jolie confirmed that she was pregnant with Pitt’s child and the couple would later get engaged in 2012 and marry in 2014.
